Two-time Super Bowl champion and Washington, D.C., football legend Dave Butz died at 72 years old, according to a post from the Washington Commanders.
“We’re heartbroken over the loss of Washington Legend Dave Butz, a 2x Super Bowl champion and member of our Ring of Fame and 90 Greatest list,” the post read.

Butz was a defensive tackle who served as a stalwart for the team’s defense throughout his time with Washington.
Along with the two Super Bowl championships in 1983 and 1988, Butz’s performance on the field saw him feature in the 1983 Pro Bowl and be named First-team All-Pro that same year.
