Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has become the latest candidate to use artificial intelligence-generated images in his campaign for president, a tool that some allege will be used to spread misinformation.
The “DeSantis War Room” account posted a video on June 5 attacking Trump for working with National Institutes of Health Director Anthony Fauci. These include several AI-generated images featuring Trump hugging Fauci. Several generated visual elements look fake, including text in the background that appears as gibberish, as well as strange patterns visible in Trump’s hair.

“Donald Trump became a household name by FIRING countless people *on television* But when it came to Fauci…” the account tweeted.

The Republican National Committee released a video in April that featured a multitude of AI-generated images illustrating the consequences of a Biden term, ranging from a Chinese invasion of Taiwan to a free-falling economy. Such use of AI led a Democratic lawmaker to introduce legislation banning the use of AI-generated images in political ads.
The DeSantis War Room account was launched last August and is operated by DeSantis political aide Christina Pushaw.
