Former President Donald Trump spoke to supporters during a campaign stop in Nevada, where crowd-goers gathered amid efforts to recruit new volunteers to help with his reelection.
The Las Vegas appearance comes as Trump works to solidify his favorability among the Republican party with familiar talking points—like immigration reform, while taking occasional jabs at fellow White House hopeful Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and issues with the economy.
BIDEN ANNOUNCES SWEEPING ‘BIDENOMICS’ PLAN TO REDUCE HEALTHCARE COSTS
Taking to the stage late in the evening on Saturday at a volunteer campaign recruitment event, Trump took issue with ‘Bidenomics’ under President Joe Biden’s administration. One such issue he addressed included new rules restricting short-term insurance plans, which the administration argues are not the “quality and comprehensive coverage” that consumers need—almost entirely rolling back a landmark achievement under the Trump administration.
He also promised to cut taxes, accusing Democrats of seeking to raise taxes by four-times their current amount as of now, while vowing to lower federal interest rates.
The former president followed up by claiming DeSantis voted “to fund Yucca Mountain as a dumping ground for nuclear waste…which affects your whole state,” a hotly-contested topic about the disposal of nuclear waste.

Trump also vowed to implement all paper ballots, voter-ID requirements, and same-day voting if reelected in 2024, while reiterating his prior claims of a stolen 2020 election. His efforts to overturn his loss to Biden saw countless failed lawsuits arguing the legitimacy of the election outcome.
