Things got heated as former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile challenged Chris Christie when he insisted the Jan. 6 committee has a “credibility problem” during a panel discussion on ABC.
Christie, the former Republican governor of New Jersey who recently revealed that he is considering a 2024 presidential bid, stressed that the House select committee has done good work, but said it is hamstrung because there is a view among Republicans around the country that Vice Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), the only two GOP members, have not argued the “other side.” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) withdrew his picks for the committee after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rejected two of them last year.
The blowback started with This Week host George Stephanopoulos, who said, “There’s no other side,” to which Christie replied, “I think you can question a lot of these witnesses who came up and test their credibility.”
As spotted by Raw Story, Brazile cut in, challenging Christie for questioning the credibility of people in former President Donald Trump’s own orbit who have testified against him as part of the Capitol riot investigation, including former Attorney General William Barr and officials from his White House.
“You want to just keep talking, or do you want me to give the answer?” Christie said, raising his voice, but Brazile wasn’t having it. “Seriously, Chris. What is the other side?” she asked. “You can test the credibility of people and by doing that, it can give them more credibility, but instead, it’s a TV production,” Christie retorted.

Brazile wasn’t done, as she asked, “You’re going to test the credibility of the cops who got their heads smashed in? That’s who you’re going to test?”
“No. That’s not who I’m testing, Donna!” Christie exclaimed. “But there are lots of people inside the White House who now have convenient memories about things that didn’t have memories about them before.”
