Billionaire Elon Musk and podcast host Joe Rogan both criticized an article that labeled exercise and fitness “far right.”
The article, published by MSNBC, claimed that people on the far right had been using at-home fitness trends to “expand its decade-plus radicalization” of mixed martial arts and combat sports, adding that physical fitness “has always been central to the far right.” The article was mocked by Musk online, who jokingly claimed the outlet “thinks you’re a nazi if you work out.”

“MSNBC thinks you’re a nazi if you work out lmaooo,” Musk wrote.
Likewise, Rogan also criticized the article, writing “holy f***” in reaction to the outlet’s claim on fitness. Rogan has been known to be a supporter and advocate of exercise.
The article was originally posted online on March 22, 2022, but was uploaded to Twitter again for unexplained reasons on Monday.

Earlier this year, Time magazine was criticized online over a piece it published that claimed exercising is racist. The article, titled “The White Supremacist Origins of Exercise, and 6 Other Surprising Facts about the History of U.S. Physical Fitness,” claimed the trend of exercising is only geared toward white women.
