Billionaire tycoon Elon Musk is back on Twitter, ending his nine-day hush-hush on the social platform on which he has traditionally been quite chatty.

Without giving an explanation for his absence, Musk made his return with a tribute to popular YouTuber Technoblade, who recently died of cancer at the age of 23. Musk also tweeted a picture with Pope Francis and a throwback picture of his 40th birthday festivities.

MUSK SILENT ON TWITTER FOR NINE DAYS

“Popular Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade with 12 Billion subscribers recently passed away at the age of 23 due to cancer, and this made [me] realize that cancer is [an] absurd piece of literal garbage and death, but also try to live your best life with people who know,” Musk wrote.

He captioned the tribute with “wise words from SJM” Friday evening. Technoblade had amassed millions of YouTube followers and was well-known for his content about Minecraft.

“Feeling … perhaps … a little bored?” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO then asked on Twitter.

He followed that tweet with one displaying a picture of him meeting with the pope alongside his children. The photo featured four of his teenage boys. The world’s richest man has a total of eight children — one of whom recently cut ties with him.

Late last month, one of his children, Vivian Wilson, who is transgender and a biological male who identifies as a female, asked a California court for a legal name change because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way.” Wilson was not in the photo with the pope.

Next, Musk tweeted a throwback picture of a trip to Venice, Italy, for his 40th birthday with his ex-wife actress Talulah Riley.

“Talulah designed that dress herself and much of my 40th birthday party. She is a party genius,” he told a Twitter user when chided for buying her half a dress.

Despite their divorce, which occurred twice, Riley has maintained that the pair continues to share a “very deep love and connection.”

Musk’s Twitter vacation coincided with major events in his business and personal life over recent weeks. In addition to one of his children severing ties with him, his electric car behemoth Tesla laid off nearly 200 autopilot workers in California Tuesday, triggering lawsuits over the firings. Tesla is also facing a suit accusing the company of enabling racial discrimination and harassment. At SpaceX, employees recently penned a letter critical of Musk for his behavior in public.

The billionaire tycoon has been eyeing a takeover of Twitter. In early June, he threatened to back out of his $44 billion acquisition bid, citing a glut of spam bots. This notably coincided with a plunge in tech stocks, sinking his net worth and the likely value of Twitter.

The social media giant provided him with additional data about bots, though it is unclear if that satisfied Musk. He later attended an all-hands meeting on June 16, and the company’s board of directors recommended that the shareholders vote in favor of the takeover in a June 21 filing.
