The White House announced Tuesday that Sir Elton John will perform on the South Lawn on Friday for an event honoring the musician as well as other "history-makers" in the audience.

The White House announced Tuesday that Sir Elton John will perform on the South Lawn on Friday for an event honoring the musician as well as other “history-makers” in the audience.

The event, “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme,” will “celebrate the healing and unifying power of music,” per the White House.

Both President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will deliver remarks at the event that will “commend the life and work of Sir Elton John, and honor the everyday history-makers in the audience, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, LGBTQ+ advocates and more.”

The concert is being held in collaboration with A+E Networks and the History Channel.
