A reported explosion occurred Saturday at a high-rise building in Atlanta that houses the office of Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) among others.


A reported explosion occurred Saturday at a high-rise building in Atlanta that houses the office of Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) among others.

Atlanta Police and Fire Rescue were present at 271 17th street, which also has law offices. Police reported several injuries but could not confirm the number or verify the explosion.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Ossoff’s office and the Atlanta Police Department. There are no reported injuries among Ossoff’s staff.

So far, no tenants of the building are considered suspects. No arrests have been made.

Tara Murphy, spokesperson for the Atlantic Station, a dining and shopping center near the incident, told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that there was no explosion. Murphy claimed instead it was an electrical fire that struck the building. Police have not confirmed the fire.

Roads surrounding the area were briefly closed but have since reopened.

The involved building is less than 15 years old and features 29 floors of offices across 150 acres.
