Actress Cheryl Hines went on the record with her support of her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the 2024 Democratic nomination for president.

Hines shared her support for her environmental lawyer husband with the New York Times in a piece published Saturday, saying she wants him “to feel loved by” her as well. She also made it clear she doesn’t “feel the need to go to every political event, because [she does] have [her] own career.”

“I haven’t lost any jobs because of my support for his candidacy, but there was a project I’m involved in where there was a pause for discussion about how his candidacy might affect what we are doing but it has been resolved,” Hines said.

Kennedy consulted with Hines before he started his campaign, assuring her he would not run unless he had her support. Hines said there are some political topics she differs on with her husband, which she did not disclose. The actress did reference the time Kennedy, made a comparison to the Holocaust while delivering a speech at a rally against vaccine mandates. She assured her Twitter followers she found the comparison “reprehensible”

“My husband’s opinions are not a reflection of my own. While we love each other, we differ on many current issues,” Hines wrote.

Hines began dating Kennedy when he was in the midst of his divorce from the late Mary Richardson, who committed suicide. Richardson was Kennedy’s second wife.
