The day that a household receives its SNAP payment depends on a household’s Social Security number, case number, account number, or last name.

In the Empire State, the maximum allotment for SNAP benefits is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. An additional $211 is added for each additional member.

SNAP benefits are calculated based on a household’s gross income. Most households who apply for SNAP no longer have to pass a savings/resource test to receive food stamps, meaning a household’s assets, stocks, savings, and retirement accounts are not considered when determining eligibility.
