Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin is facing harsh criticism after a video emerged online showing her dancing at a party with several high-profile influencers.
In the footage, which has been shared widely on social media, Marin is seen dancing with a group of friends with voices in the background talking about cocaine, according to Finnish outlets. The videos elicited mixed feedback, with critics decrying the behavior as inappropriate for a country’s leader and calling on Marin to take a drug test.

“Just for the sake of the discussion in public, it would be wise if the prime minister voluntarily went through a drug screening, the results of which would be made public by an independent body,” said Mikko Karna, a member of the Finnish Parliament. “The people are also allowed to expect this from their prime minister.”
Marin denied drug use in a news conference on Thursday, noting she has “nothing to hide.” Marin, the world’s youngest prime minister, has previously been seen partying and going to music festivals.

“I have danced, sung, celebrated, done legal things,” the prime minister said, noting she was not drinking heavily. “I trusted that since the videos are private and published at a private event, they would not be published.”
Marin was criticized last year after being seen at a nightclub despite reports she had been in close contact with a government colleague who tested positive for COVID-19. She apologized for the incident shortly after.
