A Florida man was arrested Sunday afternoon after deputies say he pulled out an 18-inch machete at a bar due to being refused the opportunity to perform another karaoke song.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office says Travis Jordan, 39, faces a breach of peace due to disorderly conduct charge in connection with the incident, which occurred at a tavern in Cape Canaveral, per WKMG.

Deputies arrived at Kennedy’s Lamp Post Tavern on Sunday at about 2 p.m. and found Jordan stumbling with bloodshot, glassy eyes and smelling strongly of alcohol, according to an affidavit.

A witness told deputies that Jordan had the machete hidden on his body but pulled it out after someone denied his request to sing another karaoke song. The woman, afraid, managed to convince him to peacefully hand it over, the affidavit said.

“Everyone started freaking out,” the affidavit noted, until an employee hid the weapon and called law enforcement.

Jordan admitted to wielding the weapon, according to WKMG, telling deputies that he had to “stay alert” to protect himself because he was threatened some days before. However, this night, he had not been in danger, the affidavit said.
