Georgia residents enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive their monthly benefits within nine days.

The food stamps program in the Peach State sends out payments from the fifth through the 23rd of each month, and the final round of payments for this month is scheduled to be delivered by Aug. 23.

Benefits in the SNAP program go out in 10 waves, and five waves have already been delivered to beneficiaries. The date on which an individual receives their food stamps depends on the last two digits of the person’s client ID for the food stamps program.

The five rounds of recipients who have already received their benefits include those with client IDs ending in 00-09, who got their benefits on Aug. 5, people with client IDs ending in 10-19, who received their benefits on Aug. 7, those with client IDs ending in 20-29, having received their benefits on Aug. 9, people with client IDs ending in 30-39, having received their benefits on Aug. 11, and individuals with client IDs ending in 40-49, having received their benefits on the Aug. 13.

Beneficiaries who have yet to receive their monthly payments include those with client IDs ending in 50-99. The remaining payments for this month will be sent out between Aug. 15 and 23.

In order to qualify for food stamps in the Peach State, individuals may not be making more than a certain annual income depending on household size. The maximum annual income for a household of one in Georgia is $18,954, and for a household of five in Georgia, the maximum annual income is $45,682.

SNAP benefits in Georgia may be used to purchase food, groceries to prepare meals, and seeds. The state also says that ice, water, and room temperature foods that are “not designed to be consumed in the store” may be purchased with the benefits.

Items that are ineligible to be purchased using food stamp benefits on an EBT card include prepared meals from grocery stores or restaurants. More information on the food stamp program in Georgia can be found on the state’s website.
