The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a federal program that provides food assistance to low-income individuals and families, will send a payment worth up to $1,691 to Maryland residents in two days.
Maryland beneficiaries receive their monthly payments from SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, between the 4th and 23rd of every month. The specific payment dates for eligible households vary based on a variety of factors, including a recipient’s Social Security number, last name, case number, and account number.

The average payment per household member for each month in the Old Line State is $180. The maximum SNAP amount for a household of three is $740, and the maximum amount for a household of eight is $1,691. For each additional household member past eight, SNAP adds up to $211. In Maryland, around 800,000 people, or roughly 13% of the state’s population, receive food stamps, according to 2022 data from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
If eligible applicants for SNAP benefits are active, the monthly amount should be available for use through the electronic benefit transfer card, which can be swiped at checkout in grocery stores to purchase eligible food and drink items, similar to debit cards.
