Households with last names A through S should have received their payments already. SNAP recipients with last names starting with T, U, and V will collect their payments on Thursday. SNAP recipients with last names starting with W, X, Y, and Z will collect their payments on Saturday, the final payment date for September. SNAP will begin October payments on the 5th in Indiana.
Multiple requirements must be met to be eligible for food stamps, depending on the household and income threshold. The typical asset and resource limit is $5,000 for most households, according to the state government. The average payment per household member per month is $182.
Approximately 617,600 people, or 9% of the state’s population, receive food stamps, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

The maximum payment for a household of one is $281, and the maximum payment for a household of four is $939. The maximum payment is $1,691 for a household of eight, and after eight, SNAP adds $211 for each additional member.
Benefits are loaded on an electronic benefits transfer card, known as the Hoosier Works card in Indiana. Food stamps can be used to buy grocery items, such as meat and poultry products, bread and cereal, and seeds for growing food. SNAP cannot be used to purchase alcohol, cleaning supplies, or pet food.
