The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will begin issuing food stamps to eligible households in August, with recipients from four states set to receive payments across the board in eight days.

Every SNAP-participating household located in Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont will receive food stamps on Aug. 1. All other states will send out SNAP benefits to households beginning in the early days of August that will continue throughout the month.

States send out SNAP benefits to recipients on a rolling basis, with the date depending on a recipient’s Social Security number, last name, case number, or account number. The send-out dates remain the same month-to-month.

Here are the maximum payments for the first four states to send out food stamps in August.

Alaska

In Alaska, a household’s maximum monthly payment depends on its location in one of three regions.

For eligible households living in the “Urban” region, the maximum payment for a household of one is $230, $767 for a household of four, and $1,382 for a household of eight. After eight, the program adds a maximum of $173 per additional member.

For the “Rural I” region, the maximum payment is $293 for a household of one, $979 for a household of four, and $1,762 for a household of eight, with a maximum of $220 added for each additional member.

In the “Rural II” region, maximum payments are $357 for a household of one, $1,191 for a household of four, and $2,145 for a household of eight, with $268 added for each additional member.

North Dakota

The maximum payment is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,692 for a household of eight in North Dakota.

The average payment per household member per month is $185 in the Rough Rider State. Eligible SNAP benefit recipients make up 6% of the North Dakota population, amounting to approximately 47,400 people.

Rhode Island

Food stamp recipients make up approximately 13% of Rhode Island’s population, with 139,400 people receiving payments across the state. In Rhode Island, the average SNAP payment per household member per month is $183.

The maximum amount is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. For additional household members, a maximum of $211 is added to the overall payment.

Vermont

Approximately 69,500 Vermont residents, making up 11% of the population, receive SNAP benefits each month. The average payment per household member per month is $188.

The maximum amount is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,339 for a household of six. A maximum of $211 is added for each member after six.
