An attorney for two Georgia election workers who sued Rudy Giuliani for defamation did not rule out going after former President Donald Trump for similar false 2020 election claims.

Mike Gottlieb told MSNBC’s Inside with Jen Psaki on Sunday that while he can’t speak about a possible case against Trump in an on-air interview, “If people continue to defame our clients, I don’t care who they are – but if people continue to go out on TV and repeat these lies that we have demonstrated to be false, then they can expect to hear from us.”

Gottlieb is fresh off a landmark victory this week where Giuliani was found liable for defamation by a federal judge in a lawsuit brought by Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, election workers Giuliani claimed manipulated results in 2020. Freeman and Moss, who are mother and daughter, respectively, worked as election workers in Fulton County, Georgia, during the presidential race.

The former New York City mayor failed to provide information sought in subpoenas, with Judge Beryl Howell in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruling a civil trial can move forward to determine the damages awarded to the plaintiffs.

Pressure is on the rise to sue Trump over similar false claims made against the two temporary election workers. In January 2021, Trump singled out Freeman in the well-known phone call with Georgia officials to gather more state voters, calling her a “professional vote scammer” and a “hustler.”

In mid-August, Trump was indicted in relation to a fourth different case this year, this time by a grand jury in Fulton County alongside Giuliani and 17 others for their alleged roles in a plot to overturn the Georgia election results. The 98-page indictment included details of Trump’s allies going to Freeman’s house to allegedly influence her to lie in her testimony about the voting process.
