Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is set to be interviewed by the Jan. 6 committee in the coming weeks.
Ginni Thomas has reached an agreement with the committee and will be interviewed within a few weeks, a source close to the panel told CNN correspondent Jamie Gangel. This information was then confirmed by Ginni Thomas’s lawyer, Mark Paoletta, marking a major victory for the committee.
JAN. 6 COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES DATE FOR NEXT HEARING, SAYS IT MAY BE THE FINAL ONE
“I can confirm that Ginni Thomas has agreed to participate in a voluntary interview with the Committee. As she has said from the outset, Mrs. Thomas is eager to answer the Committee’s questions to clear up any misconceptions about her work relating to the 2020 election. She looks forward to the opportunity,” the statement from Paoletta reads.
The justice’s wife has been a prime target of the investigation into the Jan. 6 riot, with investigators largely focused on a series of emails she purportedly sent to electors about the 2020 presidential election.
The interview is likely to take place before the anticipated final hearing next week, which the chairman of the committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), confirmed will be the final hearing “unless something else develops.”
