Gov. Spencer Cox (R-UT) fired back at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s (R-GA) calls for a “national divorce” Monday, calling the idea “evil.”
Greene, one of the GOP’s more outspoken members, spent her Presidents Day calling for a “national divorce” on Twitter.
She wrote that red and blue states needed to separate and that the national government needed to be condensed.

“This rhetoric is destructive and wrong and—honestly—evil,” Cox wrote on Twitter in response to Greene. “We don’t need a divorce, we need marriage counseling.”
The Utah governor went on to advocate the healthy conflict he said was critical to the founding of the nation.
This rhetoric is destructive and wrong and—honestly—evil. We don’t need a divorce, we need marriage counseling. And we need elected leaders that don’t profit by tearing us apart.
