Gov. Greg Abbott unabashedly shared the latest numbers on apprehensions at the border in the face of a lawsuit from the Biden administration.

“Joe Biden left border states like Texas to fend for ourselves. Now, Biden is suing Texas for securing the border,” Abbott wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Let me be clear: we will continue to deploy every lawful tool and strategy to protect Texans.”

The most recent report from Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency program committed to combating illegal crossings at the Texas border, came out Friday to reveal over 427,600 illegal immigrant apprehensions have occurred since March 2021. Additionally, Texas officials have made some 33,800 criminal arrests, which included more than 30,700 felony charges. They have seized over 426 million lethal doses of fentanyl in the meantime.

“Operation Lone Star continues to fill the dangerous gaps created by the Biden administration’s refusal to secure the border,” the report read. “Every individual who is apprehended or arrested and every ounce of drugs seized would have otherwise made their way into communities across Texas and the nation due to President Joe Biden’s open border policies.”

This report flies in the face of several lawsuits filed against the governor over the deployment of buoys in the Rio Grande to prevent crossings via its waters. At first, the Department of Justice issued an order to remove the marine barriers, only to be rebuffed by the governor, which led to its lawsuit. Abbott is already facing a lawsuit from a local kayaking business owner alleging that the buoys prevent him from conducting tours. Mexico has also filed a complaint regarding the buoys.

Meanwhile, Abbott continues to bus immigrants to Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and New York City. The latest numbers report the total is now over 34,740 sent to the cities in varying quantities.

According to the governor, the marine barriers have resulted in more crossings in New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
