“A lot” of shots were fired, police said, adding that the suspected gunmen fled on foot. Police said they will look through security footage and review other evidence to identify the suspects.

Four of the students were sent to a hospital, with the 14-year-old student being pronounced dead at 5:09 p.m. A fifth student was treated at the scene with a graze wound.

“We keep having these same conversations day in and day out. I don’t know who is missing the conversation, but we just have to keep doing as much as we possibly can,” Philadelphia Deputy Police Commissioner John Stanford said at a press conference.
