House Republican leaders condemned the Biden administration on Wednesday on topics ranging from immigration to its response to Israel’s war in Gaza.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) appeared alongside prominent House Republicans, including Reps. James Comer (R-KY), Chip Roy (R-TX), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Steve Scalise (R-LA), in an appearance on Fox News’s Hannity. The group pledged to put aside their differences and unite around an opposition to President Joe Biden’s policies.

The group tread familiar ground in attacking Biden’s Department of Homeland Security for allowing roughly 6 million illegal immigrants across the border and raising concerns that threats to national security may exploit the breach. Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, gave the latest updates on the committee’s investigation into alleged corruption on the part of Biden, while Roy called for the defunding of universities in response to antisemitism on campus amid the Gaza war.
Jordan gave updates on the investigation into the Department of Justice’s alleged spying on members of Congress and their staff. He announced an investigation into the matter on Tuesday.
“As part of the investigation, Jordan sent letters to the CEOs of Alphabet, Apple, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, along with Attorney General Merrick Garland, demanding information on alleged attempts by the DOJ to obtain the private communications of members of Congress and their staff,” he said in a letter on Tuesday.

Hannity also confronted Johnson on the impeachment inquiry into Biden, asking him whether he believed that the accumulating evidence was going to lead to an impeachment of the 46th president.
“Next to a declaration of war, impeachment is the most serious power that Congress has,” Johnson replied. “We do not wield it for political purposes. We are following the truth where it leads. When you hear the evidence, you see this laid out and summarized. There is of course much more than we are able to do in one segment. We will follow the truth where it leads because we have a constitutional responsibility to do it.”
