The Washington Examiner’s Editor in Chief Hugo Gurdon broke down the low approval ratings of the top contenders for the 2024 presidential election.

Discussing former President Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who are the top Republicans in the polls, Gurdon speculated that DeSantis is more likely to be Trump’s opposing candidate than his running mate. Trump has made DeSantis his prime political target. Gurdon noted Trump expressing his desire “to wreck DeSantis,” which causes him to be skeptical of the two joining forces.

AMERICA’S DEAD-END DEMOCRACY PROMOTION

“A PAC that supports DeSantis is coming out with ads in the primary states, the early states just coming up on Monday. And you see the people in this ad sticking DeSantis ads over the 2016 Trump ads,” Gurdon said. “Clearly he is being set up as a replacement for Trump.”

“I think DeSantis probably like everyone else recognizes that the likelihood is Trump would lose to Biden, he’s already lost once. Most people think that he would lose again,” Gurdon went on.”He has actually lost the support since the last ran against Biden in 2020.”

Meanwhile, a poll from last week reported that 47% of all voters do not approve of either Trump or Biden for president. However, a majority of that group would pick Biden over the former president, which Gurdon predicted “has the makings of a Biden landslide against Trump.”

In another recent poll, DeSantis lost nine points in his approval rating, giving way to a lead for Trump.
