One of the most iconic guitars used by 18-time Grammy-winner Eric Clapton is expected to fetch upwards of $2 million when it sells at auction.
Known as “The Fool,” Clapton’s 1964 Gibson SG electric guitar will be a feature of the “Played, Worn & Torn: Rock ‘n’ Roll Iconic Guitars and Memorabilia” auction hosted by Julien’s Auctions in Nashville, according to a report.

If it sells for a price near the $2 million mark, it would rank as one of the most expensive guitars ever sold, the report noted.
“The Fool” gets its name from its unique psychedelic painted design, which was completed by a Dutch art collective with the same name.
It is “one of the most immediately recognizable, historically and musically important guitars of all time,” an auction note reads.

Clapton played “The Fool” throughout the ’60s on various Cream recordings, and it served as the artist’s favorite guitar while he was on his U.S. tour with the group, according to the report.
He even used it during Cream’s 1967 American debut.
