Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) reported an increasing amount of hate calls to her office.

Omar has come under fire for her response to the war between Israel and Hamas. While she issued a condemnation on the day Hamas sent thousands of rockets into Israel earlier this month, Omar called on President Joe Biden to push for a ceasefire immediately and blamed the Israel Defense Forces for the explosion at the al Ahli Arab Hospital on Tuesday that killed hundreds.

“House Republican leaders stay silent as their party unleashes these toxic attacks and refuse to hold extremists in their ranks accountable,” Omar told NBC News, speaking about the voicemails she also shared with the outlet. “Since assuming office, two men have pleaded guilty to threatening to kill me. This is very real. I fear for my children and have to speak to them about remaining vigilant because you just never know.”

NBC News confirmed the threats by listening to at least three voicemails and publishing a report on them.

“I’m from a militant group,” one caller said, per the outlet. “I can’t wait till our group sees you one day and I can rip your f***ing rag off your head. … I hope the Israelis kill every f***ing one of you.”

“You work for this country,” another caller was heard saying. “Pull your f***ing head out of your f***ing turban-wearing a** and f***ing see the light of day, you dumba** f***ing terrorist-supporting f***ing piece of s***.”

Omar eventually walked back her initial reaction to the hospital bombing, blaming “the fog of war” and “misinformation” on X, formerly Twitter. The Minnesota representative continued to call for an investigation into the attack.
