An Indiana pastor has issued a challenge to the nation’s religious leaders to reject “wokeism” and sign a pledge promising they will preach the “one true gospel.”

Lucas Miles, the pastor of Nfluence Church in Granger, Indiana, is the author behind Woke Jesus: The False Messiah Destroying Christianity and seeks to provide “the definitive guide to understanding wokeism and its effects on the church, and what we can do about it.”

“There’s been a lot of work to expose wokeism in government and schools, but I don’t think as many people are aware about how it’s affected the church,” Miles said in an interview about his new book.

America’s “Christian left” is influenced by a phenomenon of “money going into and influence being applied to our theological training centers in America,” according to the pastor.

Christian universities, in particular, are being convinced to deviate from traditional teaching and training, he said.

“The church is a vessel. It is a ‘Noah’s Ark,’ if you will, for every generation,” Miles said.

“We are able to be enclosed inside it, in safety, and protected throughout this life. There might be torrential downpours and there might be wind and waves all around us, but we’re kept safe through it all.”

Religious leaders and churches must act as a “stabilizing force” for culture and navigate the “craziness and the advancements around us,” according to Miles. Despite his push for a return to orthodox doctrine, the pastor maintained he is not against progress.

“I’m not somebody who sees an advancement in technology and goes instantly, ‘Well, that’s the devil,'” he said.

However, the question must be asked: how will the technology be used?

“How can that go wrong, and how can we use it for good?” he asked.

Progressing for the sake of progress is dangerous if there is no goal, he argued. Using the metaphor of a fire hose, he said it is akin to “just spraying — and wherever it goes, it goes.”

“What we’re seeing today with the trans movement is a great example of that,” Miles said. “With Christianity, we are for progress — but we’re for progress in a very specific direction. The Bible says that we are to be conformed in the image of Christ. So our whole life in this journey is about progressing toward the destination of Christ himself.”

The American Pastor Project was started by Miles to pursue his vision for Christianity in the nation, and he is asking fellow leaders in faith to preach the true gospel in the face of “wokeism.”

“We recognize God’s created order, in making male and female, determined by divine imprint, genetically encoded at conception and changeless,” the pledge reads. “We affirm Christian marriage, defined by one man and one woman united by God in holy matrimony.”

“We believe that our identity in Christ isn’t based on ethnicity, skin color, or socio-economic status, but faith in the name of Jesus, and his free gift of righteousness.”

The pledge also includes a commitment to avoid and prohibit forces of “wokesim,” including globalism, critical race theory, Marxism, and socialism.

“We want to ask pastors to stand against this, including all the iterations of the LGBT and [transgender] movement,” Miles said.

Hundreds of pastors have already signed on, according to Miles.

“Bring this to your pastor and say, ‘Hey, have you heard about this? Would you be willing to sign this?’” he said. “It’s about biblical priorities.”
