The White House announced that President Joe Biden‘s planned Monday trip to Colorado has been postponed as the war in Israel continues.
Biden had planned to visit a wind tower manufacturer in Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) district, but now will remain in Washington, D.C., to “participate in national security meetings.”

“The president’s trip to Colorado is postponed and it will be rescheduled. The president will remain at the White House to participate in national security meetings,” a White House official said in a statement.
The announcement was made hours ahead of Biden’s expected departure for Colorado and as Israel is reportedly preparing for a ground campaign into Gaza just over a week after Hamas terrorists crossed into Israel and killed hundreds in attacks.
Biden reiterated his disapproval of an occupation of Gaza by Israel but said he supports the country’s right to defend itself after the terrorist attacks earlier this month.
“I think it’d be a big mistake. Look, what happened in Gaza, in my view, is Hamas, and the extreme elements of Hamas, don’t represent all the Palestinian people. And I think that … it would be a mistake … for Israel to occupy Gaza again,” Biden said on CBS News’s 60 Minutes on Sunday.

Israel declared war against Hamas, the first time it had declared war since 1973, shortly after the attacks on Saturday. The conflict has killed at least 5,000 people in Israel and Gaza since the first attacks by Hamas, according to the Associated Press. The State Department has said that at least 30 Americans are among the dead in Israel.
Biden’s trip to Colorado’s third congressional district was scheduled to take place shortly after third-quarter fundraising numbers showed Democrat Adam Frisch raised $3.4 million in his bid to oust Boebert in 2024. In 2022, Frisch finished more than 500 votes behind Boebert in a close contest.
