Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich believes some of the “Squad” Democrats should be censured for their comments on the war between Hamas and Israel.
Gingrich said in an interview Thursday on Fox Business’s Kudlow that the Democratic leadership is “frightened” of Democrats like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), all of whom have released statements calling for a ceasefire and the end to the “occupation” of Israel.

“The Democratic Party is led from the Left. It’s intimidated by the Left,” Gingrich said. “But you have nine or 10 members … that are just totally pro-terrorist.”
“These people are pro-terrorist, and that’s what they should be called. There’s no question in my mind that AOC and Ilhan [Omar] and Tlaib and their friends are just plain pro-terrorist members. The House ought to censure them,” Gingrich added.
The former speaker pointed to statements made by Tlaib, who is the only Palestinian American in Congress and has been heavily criticized for her anti-Israel comments, where she blamed the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital bombing in Gaza on the Jewish state. The Biden administration announced on Wednesday that intelligence suggested the bombing was due to a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket “errant rocket.”
Despite the evidence that Israel was not at fault for the bombing, Tlaib refused to walk back her statements, calling out President Joe Biden and Israel for being responsible for a “genocide” at a pro-Palestine rally on Wednesday.
“I’m hoping somebody will go up to her today and say, ‘Are you willing to say the same things about Islamic Jihad now that you know it was an Islamic Jihad rocket that was killing people at that hospital?’ And my bet is she won’t answer,” Gingrich said.
“She will not condemn Islamic Jihad. None of them have condemned the killing of babies, none of them have condemned the raping of women, none of them have condemned taking grandmothers hostage,” Gingrich added.

The former speaker said it was “embarrassing to watch” Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) claim that he hadn’t seen the posts made by Squad members.
“That’s just plain baloney,” Gingrich said.
