The Jan. 6 committee has tracked down a lawyer to deliver a subpoena to former President Donald Trump, a member of the panel said on Thursday.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) made the announcement in a conversation with Chris Hayes on MSNBC, an interview that took place after reports indicated the House select committee was having difficulties finding a lawyer willing to accept the subpoena.

“We did need to find which attorney to serve this on, and I think we’re just tying up some loose ends. It will be very soon — it’s not a big issue,” Lofgren said. “As of this morning, we got the name of the lawyer.”

In addition to confirming the committee had found an attorney for Trump to serve the subpoena, the California congresswoman also stated she doesn’t believe the committee will release a report before the midterm elections.

“I don’t believe that we’ll have an interim report. If there is pressing information that we’d receive or something that we think fills in the picture in an important way, we might release that, but we’re busily writing the report and putting together plans to release it. So there’s no way it could be done in the next 19 days,” Lofgren said.

The committee voted unanimously last week to subpoena the former president for testimony and documents relevant to events surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Trump responded to the final hearing from the committee by calling it a “Charade and Witch Hunt” but did not say whether he would comply with the subpoena.
