Jeremy Renner underwent surgery Monday for “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” following a New Year’s Day snowplowing incident, according to the actor’s family.
“We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery,” a family statement read. “He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”

On Sunday, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star was airlifted to a hospital after a snowplow ran over one of his legs, causing him to lose a significant amount of blood. The accident happened near Renner’s Reno, Nevada, home.
Video footage obtained by TMZ showed a helicopter airlifting a patient believed to be Renner in a snowy area.
“Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him,” the statement given to Independent added. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

Renner is best known for his Marvel role of Hawkeye. He also starred in The Hurt Locker and The Town, earning him Oscar nominations. The actor is currently the lead in Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown.
