President Joe Biden said the debt ceiling deal is in “good shape” and that he is confident that the agreement he made with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will reach his desk.
Biden finally reached a tentative deal with McCarthy over the debt ceiling on Saturday, but the bill still needs to pass through the House and Senate. However, Biden appeared optimistic about the process, saying that there are no more sticking points to deal with.

“I’m about to go in to call McCarthy now at 3 o’clock to make sure all the T’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted. I think we’re in good shape,” the president told reporters outside the White House.

Progressive Democrats have expressed some skepticism about the bill, but have indicated that they plan to support the agreement in order to avoid default.
