Joe Manchin is headed to K Street.
The former West Virginia senator, who switched from Democrat to Independent in 2024, has agreed to join Bondi Partners, an Australia-based consultancy and lobbying firm, the company announced on Friday. Manchin will be joining the firm, whose clients include an array of trade associations and Australian companies, as a senior adviser.
“We are pleased to welcome Senator Manchin to Bondi Partners,” Bondi Partners global president Joe Hockey said in a press release. “Washington D.C. is the modern day Rome, it’s the epicentre of politics, and Joe Manchin has been in the middle of it for more than two decades.”

The firm cited Manchin’s role in crafting the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, as well as his experience as a top power broker in the Senate. While the Inflation Reduction Act is in the sights of the Trump administration, the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed Congress with a strong bipartisan majority and still has a lot of funds up for grabs.
Outside of lobbying, Bondi Partners provides its clients with reputation management, public profile building, policy analysis as well as “commercial solutions” in the mining, financial services, clean energy, space, food, and biotechnology industries.

Manchin isn’t the only high-profile American that Bondi Partners has retained in recent years. Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Principal Deputy chief of staff Emma Doyle, U.S. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer, National Security Agency Director Admiral Mike Rogers, and veteran Republican operative Sam LaHood are all on staff at the firm.
Clients Bondi Partners is lobbying for in the United States include an Australian baby formula manufacturer, an Australia-based ship-building corporation, the American Association of Consumer Credit Professionals, and the International Chamber of Commerce, according to public records.
“I’m excited to join the exceptional team at Bondi Partners. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on finding practical solutions that bring people together,” Manchin said in the press release announcing his new gig. “I look forward to continuing this work to support business from Australia, the U.K., the U.S. and the rest of the world navigate complex policy landscapes and build strategies for future growth.”

Manchin left the Senate a wealthy man, with even the low estimate on his final congressional financial disclosure making him a multi-millionaire through the ownership of multiple real estate ventures, stocks, bonds, cash, and even a yacht. With his new K-Street position, Manchin is poised to expand his personal fortune even more.
Bondi Partners did not respond to a request for comment.
