Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) exchanged harsh words over the impeachment of President Joe Biden. Fetterman chided Gaetz for using it as a distraction from more important issues like budget negotiations.

“Government shutdown in t-minus 16 days. Instead of crying about how I dress, how about you get your shit together and do your job, bud?” Fetterman said in a repost of a Gaetz statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Fetterman responded to criticism from Gaetz regarding the famously informal wardrobe of the junior Keystone State senator.

Gaetz said on X that the “evidence against Joe Biden is overwhelming. A first-year law student could win this case for impeachment before a fair jury.”

“Unfortunately, the United States Senate isn’t a fair jury. It’s full of fashion icons like John Fetterman,” the Florida congressman said.

The video of Fetterman that Gaetz shared on X featured the senator wearing one of his staple gray button-down shirts with short sleeves and two breast pockets.

When asked by reporters how he felt about the Biden impeachment, Fetterman feigned distress, saying, “Oh my god, really? Oh my gosh. It’s devastating. Don’t do it! Don’t do it!” before being escorted away by a legislative aide.

Gaetz has referred to Fetterman’s mental health several times since the senator checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in February. In June, Gaetz told Newsmax that “it is easy to see why John Fetterman is so depressed in this economy.”
