Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich spoke on Friday about former President Donald Trump amid his presidential run. Kasich appeared on MSNBC to respond to Trump’s mugshot appearing on the GOP front-runner’s campaign merchandise.
Kasich did not address the mugshot or campaign at all, instead launching into a diatribe against Trump and the current state of the country.

“First of all, Donald Trump’s not going to be elected president. I don’t care if he’s the nominee, he’s not going to be elected president,” Kasich said. “But let me just make an observation. There are many Americans who just can’t wait for Donald Trump to go to jail, and there are Trump people who just are so angry at the system that they think the system of justice doesn’t work in America, and nobody’s listening to anybody else, and it’s all dominated by anger.”
Kasich complained that the American public finds themselves in “silos” and their anger “is now turning into hatred, one side against the other.” However, while confirming he has been against the former president since his first run for president in 2015, Kasich claimed he has no hatred for Trump. He would like to see Trump face justice and accountability. Instead, to Kasich’s own admission, “Trump’s dominating everything.”
“Finally, those debates, I mean, come on, do you think anybody’s learning from those debates?” Kasich said. “I don’t think Moses could have been selected to get the 10 Commandments if he was on the stage of a debate like that. The system has to change. It is not working.”

Trump was notably absent from the first Republican primary debate, despite meeting the polling and financial contribution requirements. Instead, he opted to be interviewed by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a video that aired at the same time as the debate Wednesday.
The debate featured eight of the 13 total Republican candidates. Trump similarly protested the network’s 2016 debate in Iowa.
