House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said it seems coincidental that U.S. Attorney David Weiss would indict Hunter Biden just two days after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
On Thursday, Weiss brought an indictment against Hunter over allegations he unlawfully owned a gun. The indictment follows McCarthy announcing the impeachment inquiry on Tuesday, saying, “House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s actions. Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of corruption.”
TRUMP SAYS BIDEN IS NOT ‘TOO OLD’ FOR 2024 REELECTION BUT IS ‘GROSSLY INCOMPETENT’
“I find it interesting that this announcement from David Weiss comes two days after the speaker announces we’re opening an impeachment inquiry. I find there has been all kinds of those kinds of coincidences that have happened along the way,” Jordan told The Ingraham Angle. “But I think what happened today with David Weiss, this was an attempt to save face.”
“Because, remember, the context here. First, there was going to be no charges against Hunter Biden. Then, it was the sweetheart deal they take to the judge that the judge declines, and then they say, ‘Oh, the person who presided over all that, four and a half years and all that, we’re going to make that individual the special counsel.’ So of course he has to do something. And he does this,” he added.
“I think it’s largely a distraction from the bigger potential issues here,” he continued, “which is the [Foreign Agents Registration Act] issue and, of course, the felony tax concerns and the statute of limitations that they let run. So, you have all that. We’re going to look into it. We’re going to do our duty. We’re going to be driven by the facts and the evidence and the Constitution.”

Fox News host Laura Ingraham suggested to Jordan that if the inquiry presents evidence that is “true, this is much bigger than Watergate — selling United States access, influence for money for your family.”
“That’s why I think it was appropriate to [open an impeachment inquiry],” Jordan responded. “And that’s why the speaker announced it two days ago.”
