Kanye West declared he will be president one day.
The rapper, who legally changed his name to “Ye,” made the assertion during part two of his interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, which aired Friday evening, while talking about how he believes it is “insane” for a presidential administration not to “use a talent” such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk more.
“I will eventually be president — in my lifetime,” he said. “If I was in office right now, I would be calling Elon every day,” West added. “I would have him sleep in the White House,” he said about plans to show people how to “live a simplified life.”
The rapper ran for president in 2020. He was able to get on the ballot in some states, including Florida, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, but only garnered about 60,000 votes out of an estimated total of 160 million, per the BBC. West indicated he plans another run in the next presidential cycle, tweeting, “Kanye 2024.”

During the interview, West talked about a wide variety of issues, including his admiration for former President Donald Trump, why he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt at his fashion show in Paris, being surprised about learning the relationship his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, had with Bill and Hillary Clinton, and more.
He also decried the status quo. “Our country is under attack, and media and industries outside of our country are doing anything to keep it as it was,” West said.
