Kyle Rittenhouse is facing a lawsuit from the estate of one of the men he shot in self-defense.
The lawsuit was timely filed on the third anniversary of the death of 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum Friday. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all criminal charges surrounding the incident a year later.

Rosenbaum’s estate is also targeting the City of Kenosha, its officials, the City of West Allis, six local Sheriff’s departments, and two police departments for “compensatory and punitive damages” over what it refers to as Rosenbaum’s “wrongful death.” During Rittenhouse’s trial, witnesses confirmed that Rosenbaum reached for Rittenhouse’s gun during the Black Lives Matter protest the two were present at.
“I’m being sued again for defending my life,” Rittenhouse posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I stand with my friend [Kyle] and *every* conservative they’re all coming after, trying to destroy our rights and reputations and lives,” attorney Jenna Ellis posted in response. Ellis is also notably facing charges of election interference in Fulton County, Georgia. “Are you awake yet?”
“My friend Kyle Rittenhouse is under attack again for defending himself, but he will never face the liberal mob alone,” former Texas Rep. Jonathan Stickland wrote. “Patriots, we must stick together.”

Rittenhouse moved to the state of Texas following his acquittal in 2021. This latest legal case against him was filed in the District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Rosenbaum was one of the two people who were fatally shot by Rittenhouse, the other being 26-year-old Anthony Huber. Rittenhouse was 17 at the time.
