The Jan. 6 committee is “fully willing to contemplate a subpoena” of Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, according to committee Vice Chairman Liz Cheney (R-WI).
The congresswoman comments Sunday mark on escalation in talks with Ginni Thomas, whose testimony has been sought by congressional investigators after some of her private communications were revealed, showing she spoke with people in former President Donald Trump’s orbit about overturning the 2020 election results.
“The committee is engaged with her counsel. We hope she’ll agree to come in voluntarily. The committee is fully prepared to contemplate a subpoena if she does not,” Cheney told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday. “I hope it doesn’t get to that.”
