Police identified a 23-year-old employee as the shooter in the Louisville, Kentucky, mass shooting that left four dead and nine injured.

The Louisville Metropolitan Police Department said Connor Sturgeon, a syndications associate and portfolio banker for Old National Bank, brought a rifle to the bank and killed four of his colleagues while wounding several others.

He critically wounded a police officer in a firefight. Sturgeon died at the scene, but it hasn’t been confirmed whether the shot was self-inflicted or from a police officer.

“The suspect is deceased. This is the only time that I will mention the suspect name in this case: Connor Sturgeon, white male, 23 years of age, who was employed at Old National Bank,” Louisville Interim Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said in a press briefing.

According to his Linkedin, Sturgeon had interned for three consecutive summers at the Old National Bank before taking a full-time job in April 2022. He was listed as working there when the shooting took place.
