A majority of California voters want Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to resign, according to a new poll released Monday.

Almost 63% of voters in California believe that Feinstein, 89, should leave office before her term ends in 2025, the Inside California Politics/Emerson College survey found. The poll respondents also said Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) should appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of Feinstein’s last term.

Thirty-seven percent said that Feinstein should complete her time in the Senate. The poll revealed that the Democratic senator holds a 22% approval rating in her state, with 48% disapproving of her work and 31% remaining neutral.

Feinstein has faced health challenges, reportedly suffering from shingles, encephalitis, and memory loss. In April, she was reportedly confused as to why Vice President Kamala Harris cast a tie-breaking vote in the Senate.

“What is [Harris] doing here?” Feinstein reportedly asked her colleagues.

Though it is unclear whether she will step down before her term concludes, Feinstein announced in February she will not run for reelection in 2024.

The poll, which was conducted June 4-7, was published Monday, with participation from 1,056 registered California voters and a 3% margin of error.
