A fisherman is making waves after he survived 11 days floating inside a freezer in shark-infested waters.
Romualdo Macedo Rodrigues, a fisherman from Brazil, was making his way through the Atlantic Ocean when his boat took on water and sank, according to a report. Panicked, Rodrigues took refuge inside a large freezer.

“I was desperate. I thought my end was coming. But thank God, God gave me one more chance,” said Rodrigues, who added that he can’t swim. “I saw [a freezer] wasn’t sinking. I jumped [inside it]. It fell to one side and kept normal.
For 11 days, the fisherman floated in the waters off the coast of northern Brazil, according to the report.
“Sharks were surrounding the freezer, but they went away. I thought [I would be attacked]. I stayed on the top. I didn’t sleep,” Rodrigues said. “I saw the dawn, the dusk, asking God to send someone to rescue me. I was thinking about my kids, my wife. Every day I was thinking about my mother, my father, all my family. It gave me hope.”

Eventually, his hope was rewarded as another boat found him and picked him up, according to the report.
“I said, ‘My God, the boat.’ I raised my arms and asked for help,” Rodrigues said. “That freezer was God in my life. The only thing I had was the freezer. It was a miracle.”
