Bestselling self-help author and 2024 hopeful Marianne Williamson eviscerated the top brass of her own party, accusing them of rigging the 2024 primary for President Joe Biden.

Williamson, who officially launched her 2024 campaign Saturday, chalked up the notion of her being a long-shot candidate to the system in place being designed to protect and elevate those with careers in “the system.”

“This is a democracy. This is the thing. The DNC should not be rigging the system. They don’t even pretend anymore. They’re not even covert about their swaying the primary season. They’re very overt about it,” Williamson said in an interview that aired during ABC’s This Week With George Stephanopoulos.

“They even admit that,” Williamson said when pressed about alleged Democratic National Committee “rigging” the process for Biden.

Recently, the DNC voted in favor of a primary calendar shake-up endorsed by Biden to relegate South Carolina to the leadoff state. The Palmetto State had been Biden’s saving grace in the 2020 cycle after he weathered a string of early primary and caucus losses.

Some factions within the party, notably New Hampshire Democrats, have sought to challenge that calendar shuffle. Williamson did not say if she wanted to preserve New Hampshire’s status as the first formal primary election for the party. Previously, the Iowa caucuses served as the No. 1 stop, followed by the Granite State, which has a formal primary.

“I can tell you that the New Hampshirites are not happy about that,” she quipped.

Williamson also underscored that she is not interested in getting into a slugfest with Biden, instead saying she wants to challenge the system. When pressed about grumblings over Biden’s age, Williamson replied, “No, I’m not going there. I don’t think ageism has any place in our thinking.”

“I don’t see myself as running against Joe Biden. I see this campaign as challenging a system,” she said. “I have no interest in taking potshots on any personal level to this president. He’s a nice man.”

Biden has not officially declared his 2024 bid but has asserted that he “intends” to mount a run for a second term in office, with April rumored as his entry date. Most high-ranking Democrats appear to have coalesced around him.

Williamson is hoping for a spirited contest and wants to debate him. She also committed to backing the candidate who can beat the GOP nominee once the primary concludes.

“He certainly should debate me. It’s called democracy, and I’m running as well,” she added. “I will certainly endorse the candidate who I feel can beat the Republicans, absolutely.”
