Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and other Republicans issued calls for a special counsel to investigate President Joe Biden and his son’s alleged bribery scheme.
“The reason for having a special counsel now is because we’re getting so many different stories out of the Biden administration,” Blackburn said on Fox News on Wednesday. “Joe Biden and his family could clear this up by coming out and telling the truth.”

Sens. Mike Braun (R-IN) and J.D. Vance (R-OH) joined Blackburn in demanding that Attorney General Merrick Garland issue a special counsel to investigate the Biden family’s international business dealings in a letter sent Tuesday
The GOP lawmakers pushed Garland to look into “the outstanding allegations of potential corruption and wrongdoing on the part of multiple members of the Biden family.” They called the allegations “deeply concerning, to say the least.”
The letter was written amid Republican claims that the FBI has been covering up evidence of a bribery allegation that could involve Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, receiving $5 million tied to Ukraine.
FBI Director Christopher Wray allowed Republican lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee to review an internal document, FD-1023, that GOP members say contains evidence of Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company, and payments made.
“If Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, took this bribe, if these recordings do exist, the American people deserve to know about this,” Blackburn said.
Blackburn listed off a number of allegations regarding the weaponization of the FBI, claiming the agency has “two tiers of justice.”

Blackburn pointed to the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails from her private server as secretary of state, in which no charges were issued, claiming the FBI then falsified accusations of Trump’s collusion with Russia to shield Clinton.
“They are weaponizing the DOJ and the FBI against private citizens in this country,” Blackburn said. “They are picking and choosing. They are defending some, going after others.”
