A mother in South Carolina died Wednesday after her 3-year-old found a firearm inside their home and shot her.
Cora Bush, 33, was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead following the morning shooting, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
Bush’s mother, the child’s grandmother, was in the home at the time of the shooting, according to a report.

She told authorities what happened, and an initial investigation yielded evidence that appeared to match her accounts of events, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said.
An investigation into incident is ongoing, the report noted.

Authorities are still seeking to determine how the 3-year-old managed to get access to the firearm.
