Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is calling for a hate crime investigation in the wake of the Nashville Christian school shooting.

“We need to be clear about the truth here. When you target Christians and religious believers, that’s a hate crime,” Hawley said on The Ingraham Angle. “This school was targeted, and it was not random. They were targeted. That’s a federal hate crime. There should be a federal hate crime investigation.”

MCCARTHY CALLS FOR PATRIOTISM: ‘AMERICA IS MORE THAN A COUNTRY, IT IS AN IDEA’

The Missouri senator blasted President Joe Biden’s dismissive response to reporters’ questions regarding whether he agreed that Christians were targeted in the shooting, saying he had “no idea” but probably didn’t since Hawley did.

“That is totally beneath the dignity of the office of the presidency of the United States,” Hawley said. “This is a guy — this is an office that has the responsibility of leading this country. Children are dead.”

“Biden should be acknowledging the targeting of people of faith,” Hawley added. “He should be saluting the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line and saved hundreds of kids, but he should be saying we’re going to get to the bottom of this. We’re going to call it for what it is, a hate crime, and we’re going to do a full investigation to make sure it does not happen again.”

Hawley also noted that the shooter’s transgender identity is another aspect worthy of consideration, saying today’s youth is misguided by healthcare workers who push gender-affirming healthcare.
