Bill Cosby is facing his second California sexual assault lawsuit due to a temporary lift on the statute of limitations.
Model Victoria Valentino filed her suit against Cosby on Thursday, alleging that she was raped by the comedian in 1969. While the state allows for minor victims of sexual assault to file lawsuits up until the age of 40 or within five years of learning of the assault, Valentino’s suit is allowed under the state’s temporary “lookback” provision, which allows anyone to file suit no matter how long it has been as long as they file before the end of this year. New York had a similar law with a window that closed last year.

Valentino alleges that Cosby drugged her and a friend before sexually assaulting them, which is the common theme among Cosby’s other accusers. At the time, Valentino was mourning her 6-year-old son, who had recently died, and was crying in a Los Angeles cafe alongside her friend. Cosby approached the two and openly offered them the pills.
“Here! Take this!” the lawsuit claims Cosby told them. “It will make you feel better. It will make us ALL feel better.”
The actor convinced the pair of women to accept a spa treatment and steak dinner he treated them to. Afterward, the three of them went to Cosby’s house together, where Valentino alleges she passed out but awoke to the sight of Cosby assaulting her friend, who is unnamed in the suit. In an attempt to protect her friend, Valentino engaged Cosby only to be raped in return, according to the suit.
This latest lawsuit comes after a Los Angeles jury awarded Judy Huth $500,000 after she alleged she was sexually assaulted by Cosby in 1975 at the age of 16. Huth told the court in the civil trial that Cosby had molested her, exposed himself to her, tried to put his hand down her pants, and used her hand to touch him in a sexual manner in a blue room at the Playboy mansion.

“What graveyard can Mr. Cosby visit, in order to dig up potential witnesses to testify on his behalf?” the actor’s spokesman, Andrew Wyatt, asked in a statement. “America is continuing to see that this is a formula to make sure that no more Black Men in America accumulate the American Dream that was secured by Mr. Cosby.”
An indecent assault conviction against the comedian was overturned by an appeals court in Pennsylvania last year, and he was released from prison. Cosby has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
