A North Carolina mother is suspected of having murdered her three children before turning the weapon on herself.
Police say they got a call about a shooting at around 11:54 a.m., and the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, WFMY 2 News reported.

Officers had to force their way inside a suburban home. Once inside, they found the dead bodies of 40-year-old Ethal Syretha Steele, 9-year-old Sakendra Syann Steele, 12-year-old Sakenya Syretha Steele, and 14-year-old Sakenlo Shawn Steele Jr.
All were killed by gunshot, and the mother’s wounds were found to be self-inflicted. Police quickly declared that no suspects were at large, and the wider community was not under threat.
A WSPD spokeswoman told the Washington Examiner that no other family has come forward, and the investigation is ongoing.

Neighbors speaking to the press expressed their distress over the tragedy occurring so close to home.
“This happened in my neighborhood. You don’t want to see this. You see this on the news, and … it is another neighborhood. For it to happen here in our neighborhood is very concerning. It’s close to home,” neighbor Angela Terrill told WNCT 9 News.
