Police in Missouri are seeking out a suspect after two officers were shot on Sunday night, one fatally.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is searching for 35-year-old Kenneth Lee Simpson in connection with the shooting.

Hours after sending out a blue alert on Sunday evening, the MSHP revealed in the early hours of Monday morning that one of the shot officers had succumbed to his injuries.
Blue alerts are used in the state to quickly inform the public about “violent offenders who have killed, seriously injured, or pose an imminent and credible threat to law enforcement.”
The deceased officer was Hermann Police Department Detective Sgt. Mason Griffith.
The additional officer is in “serious but stable condition.”
According to MSHP Troop F, Simpson is armed with an “unknown type of firearm” and was traveling in an unknown direction.
He is reported as wearing a black hat, dark pants, a black long-sleeve shirt, and tan boots. According to the alert, he is a white man with red hair and hazel eyes and stands at about 5 feet, 10 inches tall.
Simpson’s vehicle is a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler, per the alert.

On Monday, MSHP Troop F said that “Information developed overnight indicating the suspect was possibly in a home on MO 19 in Hermann.”

In an additional tweet, it added that “A perimeter was established around the residence. The Patrol is working to establish contact with the suspect and using additional tactical resources to resolve the situation.”
