Nancy Pelosi has spent the majority of her career in a nonstop fundraising cycle for candidates, making it one of her sole missions to ensure the Left maintains control of the lower chamber by raising more than $1 billion over the last 20 years.

Since becoming speaker in 2018 when Democrats seized control of the House, Pelosi has taken it upon herself to ensure the party defends the majority it has held on to for the last four years. As a result, she has become the House’s most prolific fundraiser and a well-recognized face throughout the nation.

But even as she travels from state to state to campaign alongside vulnerable Democrats fighting to hold on to their seats, it’s likely Pelosi is in her final weeks as House speaker — with election forecasters predicting that Republicans will gain control of the lower chamber. However, she has rejected suggestions that this is her last trip around as speaker, instead referring to it as simply her latest midterm push.

“Conventional wisdom says we might want to go to the beach. No, you go to the fight,” she said, according to the New York Times. “There is one answer: win.”

Since taking on the party’s House leadership in 2002, Pelosi has raked in about $1.25 billion for Democratic candidates, according to the party. A large portion of that, about $42.7 million, was raised in the third quarter of this year alone.

Pelosi has singlehandedly raised $276 million throughout the midterm cycle, appearing at more than 400 campaign events. Many of these appearances have poured cash into must-win races for Democrats where a last-minute burst of cash could help them over the finish line.

However, Pelosi has also emerged as a polarizing figure as she has become more prominent over the years. Republican candidates have also slammed their Democratic opponents for having close ties with the House speaker.

But Democrats have embraced her appearance on the campaign trail, benefiting not only from her prominence in the party but also her fundraising strengths.
