A Christmas parade in North Carolina has been canceled after a driver lost control and hit a young girl on Saturday.
The Raleigh Christmas Parade saw one GMC Sierra truck, seemingly between 10 to 16 years old, hauling the CC & Co Dance Complex’s float amid roughly 200 young female dancers. Then, the truck began driving through the crowd of girls, with the driver reportedly heard yelling out of the window that he lost control of the truck.

One girl received serious injuries after getting hit by the car. Eventually, seven volunteers stepped in front of the truck to slow it down to a stop. First responders arrived on the parade route to administer medical attention to the injured girl, without releasing any specifics of her injuries.
An Instagram post from the dance company indicated the car was associated with Leith Cars, a car dealer with 39 locations in the Triangle area of North Carolina and over 50 years in business. Leith Cars was also the title sponsor of the parade, according to a press release. The dealership had its own float in the parade, but it is unclear how many of its cars were used Saturday. The Washington Examiner has reached out for comment.

The Raleigh Christmas Parade was celebrating its 78th anniversary after a hiatus in 2020. There were some 80,000 visitors in the area for last year’s parade.
